You have been planning your garage sale for weeks now. Your garage, as well as you whole home, is stuffed with old records, books, clothing, vacuum sweepers, and other odds and ends that you have no use for anymore. Instead of just tossing your clutter into the neighborhood landfill, you’ve decided to hold one of the most time-honored traditions in civilization-the garage (or yard) sale. It can be a thankless task, becoming a pawnbroker for a day, but there’s definitely good money in it-if you know how and, more importantly, where to organize your garage sale.

First, of course, you need to get your sales items together. Garage sales are a great way to recycle stuff that you no longer have room for. You’d be surprised what doodads and miscellany your neighbors will want-musty books, old silver wear, framed photos of long-lost third cousins, and other unmentionables that you’ve had no use for since who knows when. Even more surprising, your neighbors are willing to shell out cold hard cash for these items. That makes your garage sale a win-win proposition for you.

Come to think of it, though, a garage sale at your home can be a real chore. It takes a Herculean effort to collect and organize every last little thing you want to sell. Then you have to tag each item and keep track of it in a hardcopy log. To ensure that your neighbors show up with cash in hand, you must create, print up, and pay for flyers, which need to be distributed on telephone poles and supermarket message boards across the region. The work can seem endless and your chances of making a profit slim.

Don’t get me wrong. Your garage sale was a great idea, but as you can see, there are many limitations to holding one at your house the old-fashioned way. Get with the times. Clay pot crafts are a cute way to make home decorations. In clay pot crafts, clay flower pots can be crafted into a variety of decorative things that appeal to gardeners. Usually, the crafter begins with new pots. The pots are often decorated with paint as well as being tied together with rope or cord to create things.

Pots for clay pot crafts can be purchased in many different sizes, from tiny ones not more than 2 inches in diameter, to huge ones over a foot across. For a beginning project, start with smaller pots. The beginner should also choose clay pot crafts that don’t use too many pots in too elaborate a design.

An example of a good craft for someone new at clay pot crafts is to make a bell from two clay pots. Buy one pot that is about five or six inches in diameter, and another that is very small. You will use the small one as the clapper for the bell. You will also need some decorative cord, two large wooden beads, and paint in desired colors. You may also wish to purchase some glue-on jewels to decorate the bell. The bell makes a nice decoration for a front porch.

Cut the cord two feet (60 cm.) long. Fold the end over 3 inches (8 cm.) and tie in an overhand knot, making a loop. This loop is for hanging the bell from a hook or a nail. Now turn the larger clay pot upside-down. Pass the loose end of the cord down through the hole in the pot. Lay the pot on its side and slide one of the large wooden beads up the cord until it is about 10 inches (25 cm.) from the loose end. Now tie the cord around the bead so that the bead cannot slip from its position on the cord. If you have done this correctly, you can lift the pot by the loop. In clay pot crafts, the beads must be large enough to stop the cord from going through the hole in the bottom of the pot.

On the loose end of the cord, you are going to attach the small pot in the same way. Slide the small pot up the cord to make it easier to tie the other large wooden bead on the end of the cord. Now when you lift the entire arrangement by the loop, the smaller pot should hang freely inside the larger pot, making a pleasant sound when it claps against the larger pot.

Decorate the outside of the larger pot with paint as desired. You may like to paint it in black and white patches for a Holstein cow theme. You may also like to decorate the top of the bell with silk or dried flowers and greenery and a ribbon bow.

For a variation on this craft, make three of the bells and hang them from a horizontal piece of driftwood or other interesting piece of natural wood. When making hanging clay pot crafts, always make sure the beads are large enough and are tied tightly in place, because the clay pots will break if they fall to the ground.

Other clay pot crafts include making a large doll or scarecrow of nested pots strung together and painted. The doll can sit on a chair or a step of the front porch. Paint his face to look like a scarecrow, a jack-o-lantern, a gnome, or a child. Clay pot crafts are especially suited to being displayed outside.

In our daily life, it’s a good idea to show punctuality in every part like getting to school on time, catching the right bus at the bus top, or getting to work everyday at the same time etc.

If you are not punctual, then you will start feeling the effects at the start of the day itself. As a result, f you are not punctual you are a loser! But it’s not necessary for you to be late every time! 1. Another good point you have to remember is to recognize your capabilities. If you know the amount of work you can do, then you can take on extra tasks. But if you work slowly then you should remember to take on only the few tasks which you will be able to perform on time.

2. Make sure that your deadlines are communicated to your co-workers so that they know you are not available for further work or responsibilities until you finish current responsibilities.

3. Never show off that you can do several tasks at the same time and can perform many duties in a small time period. If you cannot manage, you will show an overall inability to perform well; and none of the tasks you do will be of the best quality.

4. You should have a wrist watch so that you can keep track of time and your appointments and act accordingly.

5. Keep yourself 15 minutes early for everything and that’s how you won’t have to rush anywhere to get work done in haste.

6. Plan your things first then move ahead: Don’t let unexpected events and things to interfere your schedule.

Try to keep these things in your mind. They are very easy to adopt and you will very easily be punctual in the future.

If you have a look around the shopping malls you will see that there are lots of advertisements for gifts for your Valentine. The question is which one do you buy?

How well do you know your Valentine? Have you been together days, weeks, months or years? What you spend your money on may be dependent on the length of your relationship.

I admit that I am a bit of a romantic. I like to spoil my husband at opportune moments. I have cooked him 3 course gourmet meals, massaged him after a weary day at work and we have been known to share a bubble bath complete with a nice cold glass of white wine. I have put together my list of romantic gift ideas for you and your loved one to make Valentines Day a special occasion for you both.

Flowers always get received well. But, you do not have to spend a small fortune on a dozen red roses.

*A single red rose is just as welcome and some women feel that it is also very romantic. If you feel like spending a little bit more why not team it with a
cute teddy bear, box of chocolates or even her favorite perfume.

*As an alternative to the red rose why not buy a potted plant;

*Seeds or bulbs. You can plant these in the garden together and enjoy the color when they flower.

*Artificial Flowers are a good alternative, particularly if your Valentine has an allergic reaction to pollen!

*Make up a gardening hamper with a book on gardening, some seeds and bulbs,a pair of gloves and maybe a voucher offering your services.

A vacation or a weekend away is an excellent idea. But, you may need to discuss it with your partner first as they may have work or family commitments that cannot be rearranged. You also need to check that they are fine with the sleeping arrangements, particularly if you have not been together long. They may not wish to share a room with you so early on in the relationship.

Can you afford the trip? If you invite your Valentine away then he/she may assume that you are paying. Make sure that you make it clear to them what you are expecting them to pay towards, if anything. I am sure that they would not be happy if you took them away to a secluded island which cost a lot of money and you expected them to pay half!

Let Food Be The Language of Love.

*Book a table at your favorite restaurant but be aware that you may have to book several weeks in advance for popular restaurants and make sure that your date will like the food.

*Cook a meal at home. It does not have to be something extravagant, just something that you will both enjoy. Perhaps you could cook it together. A few candles and some soft music will make your evening even more romantic.

*Have food delivered to your door and watch a movie. No cooking or tidying away dirty plates afterwards; more time to spend with each other. Fill a basket with a DVD of their favorite movie, popcorn and a bottle of wine, dim the lights and settle down for a cozy night in together.

*Picnic down by the river. If the weather turns cold or it starts to rain gather up your hamper and go back to your place to eat. Tip: make sure that you have tidied up before you go out!

A day out at a sporting event or concert. If you do not already know ask your Valentine if there is a particular sporting event or concert that they are interested in? Purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment on the day.

A trip to the theater/cinema or opera. Ask your Valentine if there is anything at the theatre or cinema that they would like to see and purchase tickets. Perhaps you could go for dinner after the show.

Hot Air Balloon/Helicopter Ride. A hot air balloon or helicopter ride is an expensive gift so make sure that your Valentine does not mind heights! You could take him/her on a scenic trip over the city that you live in or perhaps over the countryside and then cozy up afterwards and discuss it over coffee.

A day at a health spa or pampering session. What a nice way to make your Valentine feel special. Take some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have some relaxing time together at a health spa. This will need to be planned ahead particularly if you have children, you will need to find someone to look after them for you. If you do not have the time to spend a full day at a health spa you could arrange for a couple of pampering treatments. Some beauty parlors let you pay for treatments in advance and may even provide you with a voucher to present to your Valentine on Valentines Day.

If you are on a tight budget or you would like to give your Valentine something unique you could try one of the following:

Homemade candles. Kits can be bought from the craft shop and you make your own, choosing the color and scent if you wish.

Journal or Scrapbook. Write a journal of the time that you have been together; include photographs of the two of you, postcards of places that you have visited and poems. You can both sit down and read it and reminisce about the times that you have shared.

Compile a CD with your favorite music on. If there are some love songs that remind you of special moments that you have shared why not compile a CD with them on. You could also design a cover which will make it even more unique.

Whatever you decide to do I am sure that your Valentine will feel that they are the most special person in your life on the most romantic day in the year.

It is not true that Valentine’s day is a holiday invented by greedy greeting card companies eager to sell more stock or by candy companies to sell more chocolate, or general retailers to create more business once Christmas is over. It is easy to imagine that Valentine’s Day was created by them because as soon as the stores put away their Christmas merchandise, out comes the Valentine’s Day items – even though Valentine’s is still more than six weeks away.

In a blink Rudolph and Santa are replaced with red ribbon and pink hearts and mass produced Valentine’s Day cards in thousands of designs and sizes – large, small, serious, silly, inexpensive, expensive, musical (my least favourite because they sound so tinny) and traditional ones. Valentine’s Day is the biggest single twenty hour period for florists, a huge event for greeting card companies and a boon for candy makers.

Valentine’s Day began more than 1,500 years ago. According to legend, Valentine was a priest who performed marriages in continued defiance of the orders of the Roman emperor Claudius. The emperor had realized that no young men wanted to join his army and then leave their wives and sweethearts. When it was discovered that Valentine was still performing marriages in secret, he was cruelly sentenced to death.

Valentine allegedly cured the jailer’s daughter of blindness and on the night before his execution, he sent a note to her signed “from your Valentine”. Reportedly he died on February. 14, 269 A.D.

More than 200 years later in 496 A.D., February 14 was named by Pope Gelasius to honor St. Valentine. Today more than 1,700 years have passed since the real Valentine died, and people are still celebrating Valentine’s Day in a big way. A staggering 180 million Valentine’s cards were sold last year.

It may never have occurred to you that Valentine’s Day is a major crisis day for anyone who is having an affair. After all, Valentine’s Day is the one holiday when everyone is expected to do something romantic for their spouse or lover — and if someone has both, it’s a serious problem and a logistic nightmare.

Not surprisingly then one of the most busiest groups of professionals on Valentine’s Day is the private detective when their workload can quadruple. Most people figure if anything suspicious is going on it will show itself around Valentine’s Day. Apparently it is a huge mistake for a cheating husband to book a business trip over Valentine’s Day. It rates really highly on the scale of suspicious activity.

The competition element of what your spouse did for you on Valentine’s Day is another highly disconcerting fact. Some people believe the main event is the day after when some women get together and the comparisons begin.

The competition factor can be particularly acute on the night as well if you go out for a meal on Valentine’s Day – what you basically have is a collection of couples spending the whole night discretely observing each other in a restaurant, trying to reassure themselves that their relationship is less dysfunctional than the others.

Last year at a flash restaurant in London on Valentine’s Day night a couple started arguing and the wife stood up, slapped the husband across the face and then stormed off in a huff. The husband composed himself, took a few more sips of his red wine and then proceeded to loudly call his mistress on his mobile. Within 15 minutes the immaculately dressed younger mistress turned up at the restaurant and sat down delighted that her lover had arranged the restaurant meal especially on Valentine’s Day.

The first course arrived and then you would not believe it but guess who should walk back into the restaurant but the wife. Heated words flew, culminating in the wife pouring the rest of the bottle of red wine all over the husband’s head and then the wife and mistress leaving together joined arm in arm in their thorough disgust with the sod of a man in their lives.

All this occurred whilst the other diners where sitting there quietly totally bewildered but secretly impressed with how fabulously functional their own relationship was.

The interesting twist that all came out in the newspapers the week after is that the colourful threesome were actors hired by the restaurant specifically to entertain the diners and make them feel grateful about the state of their own relationships.

This year you can avoid the actors and private detectives by stealing away somewhere quiet with your special someone. Do not whatever you do go away on a business trip over Valentine’s Day, or for that matter go on a conference on the preceding or following weekend since Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year.
