In commemorating our latest “Heat Wave” here’s a classic recording…

It was in 1962 that Motown’s Artist and Repertoire Director William “Mickey” Stevenson first heard the voice that would become synonymous with “the sound of young America.” A young jazz/blues singer with the unlikely name of “Martha Lavaille” was bringing audiences to their feet at Detroit’s famed 20 Grand Nightclub singing songs made popular by singers the likes of Gloria Lynne and Della Reese. He immediately invited her to audition at the new Motown Records headquarters, “Hitsville, USA.”

Coffee Works Cafe in Voorhees NJ keeps putting on some great concerts.. On Sunday evening, June 27th, Coffee Works presents Dayna Kurtz. Dayna is a singer/songwriter and fabulous guitarist and has traveled the world. She will be performing her music live at Coffee Works. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased on the Coffee Works Website.

Coffee Works has music all the time and now has featured premier ticketed events that are very up close and personal. Recently they have had Jeffrey Gaines do a show and John Eddie do two shows. If your into live music this is the best place in our area.

Coffee Works Cafe in Voorhees has been putting on some great concerts these days. Besides the FREE music they have their every Thursday Friday and Saturday nights, they are also hosting Premier Concerts on Sundays. This Sunday they have John Eddie there doing two shows. Once at 3 and one at 7. Tickets are $25 for either of these up close and very personal shows. It’s pretty cool being able to see a great concert without going to Philly or Camden. Medford Festival of Art, Music & Wine

The Historic Medford Village Association and the Medford Business Association are pleased to present the Festival of Art, Music & Wine on Sunday, June 6th (rain date: June 13th) from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.

Main Street in the historic and scenic Medford Village will be closed to traffic so that visitors may safely stroll and browse. Free trolleys will ferry visitors from parking lots at Sharp’s Run Plaza and the Medford Center, located at Route 70 and Jones Road. In the past, over 10,000 residents have visited Medford for this festive event!

There are some great concerts that come to the Scottish Rite Auditorium. This venue dates way back and its kind of a Camden County secret. This historic 1930s art deco venue is an intimate theater with just over 1000 seats. It has nearly perfect acoustics, making every seat great. Free parking and it’s just minutes from Philadelphia and surrounding New Jersey communities. Some concerts coming up includeDave Mason and Dr. John on March 13th and Rosanne Cash on April 18th. It’s a fantastic place to see a concert!

Live Music at Coffee Works Cafe

Looking for something to do that won’t kill your wallet. Check out Coffee Works Cafe in Voorhees on Rt 561 (Berlin Haddonfield Road) in The Ritz Theater Center. They have live music by many different local and touring acoustic artists every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. In fact this Saturday night they will feature the Acoustic Rock and Blues band, BackYard. BackYard is a local band from Atco that plays original music and covers by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Beatles, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash and more, and they play at Coffee Works every other month.

There is no cover charge. Coffee Works just wants you to come and enjoy their food and beverages and listen to live music. They’re also BYOB friendly so you can bring a bottle of wine and order some snacks and appetizers to have with it. It’s one of the best non-bar venues around to feature live music.

Check out their website and you’ll see the long list of performers coming to Coffee Works along with performance times. Go out and support Atco’s own BackYard this Saturday night.
