Cone-E-Island Our Tropical Paradise

Step into Cone E Island for a little trip to the tropics and plenty of great things to eat. Gourmet ice cream treats are their specialty but it doesn’t stop there. They have a fantastic menu of sandwiches, wraps and other goodies like Caribbean Chicken, Pulled Pork, Nice Onion Rings and even Southern Fried Pickles. Great Gourmet Burgers too. Prices are MORE than reasonable. So next time you’re hungry for lunch, dinner or just a snack give Cone-E-Island a try.
I personally recommend the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and the Big Kahuna Banana Split.
Check out their menus and more at their website.
Cone-E-Island is in the Murphy’s Shopping Center on the White Horse Pike and Atco Ave.

Eco Minded Assumption Elementary School
Capri Sun drink pouches being thrown away at the Assumption Elementary School in Atco will soon be a thing of the past.
This is because the school now earns two cents for every one of those pouches they collect and return to a company called TerraCycle, which makes affordable, eco-friendly products from packaging waste.
TerraCycle has created a fundraising opportunity for the school.
“We are glad to have the opportunity to clean our little part of the world in such an easy, convenient but effective way,” said parent and organizer of the program at school, Gabrielle Purvis.
The school has formed a “Brigade,” which is part of a free nationwide program that pays schools and non-profits to collect non-recyclable waste that would otherwise go to landfill.
The program benefits kids and adults as they are now educated about recycling and resource conservation and inspired to make a difference in their own community.
More than 70,000 schools and community groups around the country have signed up to help collect over 100 million used pieces of packaging.
The participating organizations will earn a total of over $2 million this year.

In commemorating our latest “Heat Wave” here’s a classic recording…
It was in 1962 that Motown’s Artist and Repertoire Director William “Mickey” Stevenson first heard the voice that would become synonymous with “the sound of young America.” A young jazz/blues singer with the unlikely name of “Martha Lavaille” was bringing audiences to their feet at Detroit’s famed 20 Grand Nightclub singing songs made popular by singers the likes of Gloria Lynne and Della Reese. He immediately invited her to audition at the new Motown Records headquarters, “Hitsville, USA.”
